Penguins 3 Maple Syrup 2

by: The PensNation Staff

The Penguins won the third preseason game last night against the Maple Leafs of Toronto by a score of 3-2. The Pens did hold a 3-0 lead until 5 minutes left in the third period this only being the preseason I dont forsee this to be a problem besides the Pens have stumbled out of the gates the past few years and look what happened.

Malkin, Sykora and new comer Fedotenko all tallied goals in last nights win. With Sid out of the line up Jeff Taffe centered the first line, yeah read that one again. This was the last home game for th Pens until Oct. 11th with the upcoming trip overseas coming next week after the final NHL preseason game in Toronto on Friday night.

Gonch Out Indefinitely

by: The PensNation Staff

It's been reported via the Penguins website that Sergei Gonchar will be out of the lineup indefinitely while he heals from a separted shoulder.

“Sergei will continue to be evaluated as our team medical personnel consider several treatment options,” Shero said. “In the meantime, we will look for our other defensemen to step up and fill the void created by his absence.”

So look for some of the younger guys like Goligoski and Letang take this time to put in some work and prove their worth.

Game 3 of the preseason is here against the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight at Mellon Arena, the puck drops at 7:30 or so they say that's when the game will start. And just like the previous 2 preseason games unless you live in Canadia you will be listening to it on the radio. The Pens have also trimmed their roster to 29 players coming into this game.

The 13 players assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins include forwards Kris Beech, Ryan Stone, Adam Henrich, Aaron Boogaard, Tim Wallace, Jonathan Filewich, David Gove and Christopher Minard; defensemen Deryk Engelland, T.J. Kemp, Ben Lovejoy and Joey Mormina; and goaltender David Brown.

What is Next for the Sarge

by: The PensNation Staff

Well since Gonchar went down during the first period of Saturdays exhibition game against the Lightining there has not been much siad on his condition except that there will be an MRI sometime this week. Come on guys I need a little more info than this besides I think that losing both Sarge and Whitney at the same time for any period time will have its effects on the teams overall play, but he is also on my fantasy team. This does not bode well for any of my teams just release some news already.

Sergei Gonchar

Big Things for Satan

by: The PensNation Staff

Even though Miroslav Satan is only signed for a one year contract they are looking to use him on Sidney Crosby's line to replace the revolving door of wingers that have accompanied him over the past couple of years. Satan started training camp on the first line alongside Crosby and this was taken into the first preseason game against the Lighting on saturday. I guess we can only wait and see what the season opener lines will be and who will be paired with crosby and who will be paired along side geno.
