Everything just clicked and bounced the right way for the Penguins last night. The Flyers got up on the Pens early with the first goal but the Pens bounced back in a big way and created a lead that Philly couldn't overcome.
"It's been a long time that we've played such a solid game," Therrien said. "We were solid when we had the puck, we were solid when we didn't have the puck and we got a commitment from everyone."
The Penguins came out strong in the first dominating the offensive zone and getting the puck to the net. This is starting to look like a different Penguins team than we are accustomed to this season. Halfway through the first the Flyers attack the zone and score on a rahter lucky bounce of the stick of flower. Two minutes later Godard made Cote his bitch in about 10 seconds.
Tyler Kennedy was not to be denied as he knotted the game up when he buried one behing Biron towards the end of the frame. Not to be out done by the God of Thunder Biznasty took it to Arron Asham.
The second period was alittle more calm not major fights or anything, but the Pens turned up the heat to full blast as they took it to the Flyers piling on three more goals. One came from Geno 90 seconds into the period, the second from Staal at the 12 minute mark, and Cookie put one in the oven to close out a spectacular period.
The third period had the looks of a meltdown at some points with the Penguins holding down and not attacking the Flyers zone but instead dumping the puck and sending Philly chasing. The Flyers added another shit goal in the period but they let their emotions get the best of them and spent some time in the sin bin instead of being able to have a man advantage with the goalie pulled.
