I'm not really sure how Chris Connor got here, but we are going to assume he was a low risk free agent signing by Ray Shero 2 years ago out of Dallas, I couldn't find anything about this transaction on the Penguins website and that was as far as we were willing to go to find out. Back to the topic at hand Chris Connor is capable of filling a 3rd or 4th line role here in Pittsburgh and most lineups around the league. Knowing that the Penguins will have their top three lines back next year give or take a player, is there any room on the NHL roster for Connor. At first thought you would think he would be willing to sign a 2-way deal and go back to WBS, but we feel that since he has tasted the NHL for much of this season that his willingness to ink the 2-way deal is pretty slim.
We both agree that the only way Connor stays in the Penguins organization would be if he signed a two-way deal, and if not you will likely see him pop-up somewhere like the Florida Panthers whom are in the midst of a Pirates esque re-building phase or maybe Toronto since they seem to enjoy overpayin Pittsburgh cast-offs these days.
