On February 27th, 2008 Ray Shero swung a deal sending Colby Armstrong, Erik Christensen, Angelo Esposito, and the first-round pick that year to Atlanta for wingers Marian Hossa and Pascal Dupuis. Now everyone has moved on except Pascal Dupuis who signed a 3-year deal following the 2008 season, since then he has played several rolls ranging from the right wing on the top line with Sidney Crosby to a 4th line winger.
There are some plus sides and some down sides to keeping a guy like Pascal Dupuis around, for example he is one of the better skaters on the team in fact there maybe no one faster skating in a straight line than him, but seeing him fire pucks way-wide from the point every time he gets a chance gets old. But because of his ability to skate with a Crosby or a Malkin may improve his chances of staying here over another gu such as a Max Talbot. While Duper was an integral part of the Cup run in 2009, the question that remains now is that has he done enough to warrant a new contract with the Penguins or is he replaceable.
We are split on whether or not Dupes will re-sign here or not, I say he will be back because he can skate with the top guys while Mike believes that the Pens will not resign Dupuis because doesn't bring enough to the team to warrant a new contract.
